Catch up

Things have been busy, fun and joyful around here with Asher.

So many milestones; commando crawling, crawling, pulling up, standing with good balance, teeth (3 so far), solid food and drinking from a bottle on his own.

Here’s a video of him learning to clap to the beat of the music.

Enjoy!

Asher’s 6 month wellness check

We visited our Dr. Breeze on Thursday for Asher’s 6 month wellness check. I enjoy these visits to see how he’s developing. He sure has been getting heavier, I notice each time I lug him around in his car seat. He’s always been strong, and now is on the verge of crawling. He has lots of strength and flexibility in his trunk, hips and legs. He arches up in cobra from the floor all the time.

The stats came in. As you can see from the picture, Asher weights 19 lbs 2.5 oz which is 71st percentile for his age, he is 27.5 inches long which is 74th percentile. We didn’t get his head circumference but they did measure it. I’m sure his brain is keeping up with his body.

Asher laughing at mommy’s funny faces

Asher was in stitches as Kathleen was making funny faces at him. When I pulled out the phone to record the moment he was sharing his attention between the camera and his mom. His laughs were muted a notch or two but it was still fun.

Asher learning cause and effect

While Asher and I were hanging out, I noticed that he’s beginning to figure out cause and effect. He loves to put everything in his mouth. His washcloths are favorites. We did a practice of him putting the washcloth in his mouth, then dropping in on the floor, and me giving it back again. I got creative in giving it back by hooking it on his bouncer to see if he could retrieve it. It was fun to notice that he doesn’t have a strong preference for one hand over the other but seemed to lean towards his right. Once he grabbed the washcloth, it would quickly make the rounds from his mouth to the floor and back again.

Asher in flight

Asher enjoys laying on his belly and pulling his arms up off the floor while arching his back and kicking his heals up behind himself, in a sort of skydiver position.

We’ve been in San Francisco staying with Uncle Harold and Aunt Genella.

Cousin Guy has been a play companion and afforded Asher time on his play apparatuses.

We have had a great trip and enjoyed sharing Asher’s moments with the Williamson clan.

New facial expressions

I’ve noticed Asher has been making new faces the last few days. While he’s keen to the camera and often changes his intensity and focus when he senses the spotlight, I captured this today. They are more subtle here than I’ve seen but still worthy of recording.
