Asher’s 9 month wellness check

Today we visited Dr. Breeze at the North Portland Providence Medical Group offices and it was a breeze. Our doctor has an 18 month old and is a well informed pediatrician keeping him always ahead of our Asher’s stages. We love Dr. Breeze.

Today Asher weighed in at 21 lbs. 13 oz. which is 82nd percentile. His height was measured at 29.4 inches which is 86th percentile and his head circumference was measured at 18 inches, which is 67th percentile.

His car seat is good until 30 inches in length, so were gonna go get him the upgrade.

We’re disappointed that there is a shortage of pentacel. Pentacel is 3 immunizations in one, and we’d rather do a single shot than 3, however we’re going to visit in August and do the individual shots. He still hasn’t had his 6 month Pentacel and we can’t afford to get to far behind.

Overall Asher is healthy and doing wonderfully.

Our pre-walking infant

Asher has mastered his car, crawling, sleeping in his own bed (!), pulling up, sitting down, climbing stairs, eating with his hands, loving everything we feed him and being a generally adorable pre-walking infant.

Here’s a cool video of him being industrious, excited and fast.

Catch up

Things have been busy, fun and joyful around here with Asher.

So many milestones; commando crawling, crawling, pulling up, standing with good balance, teeth (3 so far), solid food and drinking from a bottle on his own.

Here’s a video of him learning to clap to the beat of the music.

Enjoy!

Asher’s 6 month wellness check

We visited our Dr. Breeze on Thursday for Asher’s 6 month wellness check. I enjoy these visits to see how he’s developing. He sure has been getting heavier, I notice each time I lug him around in his car seat. He’s always been strong, and now is on the verge of crawling. He has lots of strength and flexibility in his trunk, hips and legs. He arches up in cobra from the floor all the time.

The stats came in. As you can see from the picture, Asher weights 19 lbs 2.5 oz which is 71st percentile for his age, he is 27.5 inches long which is 74th percentile. We didn’t get his head circumference but they did measure it. I’m sure his brain is keeping up with his body.

Asher learning cause and effect

While Asher and I were hanging out, I noticed that he’s beginning to figure out cause and effect. He loves to put everything in his mouth. His washcloths are favorites. We did a practice of him putting the washcloth in his mouth, then dropping in on the floor, and me giving it back again. I got creative in giving it back by hooking it on his bouncer to see if he could retrieve it. It was fun to notice that he doesn’t have a strong preference for one hand over the other but seemed to lean towards his right. Once he grabbed the washcloth, it would quickly make the rounds from his mouth to the floor and back again.

Asher in flight

Asher enjoys laying on his belly and pulling his arms up off the floor while arching his back and kicking his heals up behind himself, in a sort of skydiver position.

We’ve been in San Francisco staying with Uncle Harold and Aunt Genella.

Cousin Guy has been a play companion and afforded Asher time on his play apparatuses.

We have had a great trip and enjoyed sharing Asher’s moments with the Williamson clan.

4 month pediatrician visit

Weight 15 lbs 13.3 oz. 48th
Head 15.5 inches, 42 cm. 50th
Length 25.5 inches 53rd

I was suspect of the length measurement, so we measured him ourselves and found him to be 26.25 inches, 85-percentile.

I looked it up in the charts and found a full grown adult man at 95% is 6’3″ and 85% is 6’1″ and so I conclude “that’s our boy”.
