On our anniversary, Craig and Kelly came over to watch Asher while we went out on a date. The evening for us was shaping up to be a fun one. We made it to four locations within four hours; the Kennedy School for a drink, Sushi dinner, Mississippi Pizza Bingo (recommended!) and Salt and Straw for dessert.
Kelly and Craig we’re prepared to walk to the store to pick up something for dinner when Kelly exclaimed, we don’t have a key for the front door! Asher, being a good listener, observant, and dexterous 18 month old, high-tailed it from the living room into the kitchen, pulled open the drawer that keeps the keys, oven mitts, and extra batteries, extended up onto his tip toes and said a series of baby sounds like humph, and umph and maybe an “i did” or “i did that”.
Knowing that he’s able to get on his toes and reach into the drawer, we’ve Asher-proofed the drawer and moved the bowl of keys to higher ground.
Pretty awesome that Asher knew that Craig and Kelly needed keys for the front door and he knew right where they are kept. This isn’t something that Kathleen and I talk about since we have keys. We also don’t talk about where we keep keys, we just put them there. So Asher knew what keys were and where they were kept. (I’ll edit this paragraph someday to make it make good sense) 🙂
